The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Houston invites applications for one full-time tenure track faculty position in the Geosensing Systems Engineering & Sciences (GSES) program. Candidates with multi-disciplinary interests are invited to apply at the Assistant Professor rank.
Qualifications: The applicant must have an earned Ph.D. in geomatics, geodetic science, geology, geophysics, computer science and/or a related field of civil/environmental/aerospace/electrical engineering with expertise in the broad area of geospatial observations including satellite or airborne remote sensing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, photogrammetry and machine vision, signal processing and geospatial analytics. We are particularly interested in candidates who harness these techniques to answer scientific questions related to hydrology, coastal resilience and sea-level rise, natural hazards, solid Earth and the cryosphere. The appointment is anticipated at the assistant professor level. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching, research, and service activities within the Department, College, and University and ba part of a focused team of faculty members and research scientists that secures externally funded research grants and supports pedagogy within the multi-disciplinary graduate research program in GSES. The program maintains a state-of-the-art facility and is associated with the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) funded by NSF. The anticipated start date of this appointment is September 1, 2022.
