William S. St John. Bill was a student at the University of Houston from 1968 to 1975. Following his freshman year, he worked a full time job at a local consulting engineering firm while taking night classes. His work was generally in the hydraulics and hydrology area but included land development feasibility studies and other long reaching studies for the City of Houston and Harris County. Bill and Sarah St. John were a fixture with the ASCE Student Chapter in the mid 70’s. Bill served as the Vice-President in 1975 and helped lead the first concrete canoe and construction. Sarah organized the ladies auxiliary for the chapter and put together numerous events. In 1983, Bill organized and established the Engineering Alumni Association and was the Vice-President in that inaugural year. Later, he served as the VP-President Elect followed by being President. In addition, Bill has worked with the Dean’s Office with the set-up and running of the Engineering Golf Tournament for the past 25 years.

Criteria
Student should be in their junior or senior year.
Preference is given to students who maintain full-time employment at a civil engineering firm while attending school.
Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of nine hours per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Preference is given to students whose main focus is in water resources or land development.
